Coach’s Comments:

The Lady Cats ran a good race as a team and improved one spot up from last season, 9th to 8th.  Looking at team points we were very close to the 6th and 7th place teams.  So, gradually we are working our way up to those top 4 spots.  We saw time improvements from Mireyna Solis, Brianna Olivares, and Katryna Hernandez.  Felicia Ortiz and Mireyna Solis earned the trip the State XC meet.  After removing the state qualifying team members from the top 10, our girls were next in line to get moved up.  We have 2 weeks to prepare, and we are going to see something special come out of these girls.  They are dedicated, disciplined, and focused, and having those attributes are what brought them this far.

The Bobcats did not fair as well as the girls’ team.  I don’t like to make excuses for anyone, I really don’t know what happened to them.  Going to regionals and seeing the other dominating teams can be intimidating, but we have to at least try and show the other teams how we’ve been progressing and competing all season.  These times and places do not reflect the progress or success we have had this cross country season.  What I am happy with though is they returned the team back to the regional meet.  What we can look forward to is setting the standards high for next season.  We’re going to learn from this experience and fix it for the future.

XC State Championships set for Saturday, November 12th, at Old Settlers Park, starting with the 4A division at 830am and ending with the 3A division at 310pm.  3A girls compete at 240pm.
